Spätestens mit der EU-Indo-Pazifik-Strategie im vorigen Jahr hat auch die EU den Indo-Pazifik für sich entdeckt – einschließlich Überlegungen, dort auch militärisch stärker präsent sein zu wollen (siehe IMI-Studie 2022/1). Nun hat auch das EU-Parlament einen Indo-Pazifik-Bericht („The EU and the security challenges in the Indo-Pacific“) verabschiedet, der in eine ähnliche Richtung geht: „Calls for the EU and its Member States to step up their own maritime capacities in the region in a coordinated and autonomous way, including by exploring ways to ensure a permanent and credible European naval presence in the Indian Ocean;” (jw)
